Badhte Kadam is a social organization founded by Late Anil Gurbaxani on 9th January 2005.
The inspirational story of our founder dates back to years of selfless services for the society to reach where we are today. One day, our honorable founder, Late Anil Gurbaxani was driving a bike when he came across a wounded pig. This incident struck him thinking, “If there is a hospital for human beings open for 24 hours, why not there is any hospital for any animals open for 24 hours?”
Fast forward to now, we have set up multiple animal care centers and even Gaushalas, where abandoned cows are taken care of. A shelter was built spread over three and a half acres of land. This shelter has capacity for 216 cows and a full-time veterinary is available.
With a quality of selflessness and a zeal of serving the society stirring in him, blood donation camps were started within an NGO named Prayas.
Out of many philosophies in life, he believed that an educated mind is an enlightened mind. Thus, through Seva Bharati, an NGO in Tikrapara, he taught and provided for students from the poor sections of society.
The tipping point for our founder was his historical efforts to simplify and lessen the burden of marriage. He felt the need to get rid of the obligations in marriage such as expensive, pompous celebrations. He observed that people drown in debt in the process of fulfilling the obligations of marriage.
He then came up with a creative concept of a simple Samuhik Vivah where marriages were organized in groups and thus, it proved to be economical and budget-friendly.
In January 2001, 31 couples got married and in the same year, in December, 51 couples got married in a simple yet successful Samuhik Vivah.
Today, a formal marriage bureau in 2005 has been established under the endless efforts of founders, namely, Late Anil Gurbaxani, Late Dada Chandumal Mulwani, Durgadas Panjwani and Jagdish Jugani.
Badhte Kadam as an NGO has helped numbers of downtrodden people regardless of caste, creed, race and gender.
